“Mia and Me” becomes No.1 kids program at MipJunior 2010

The ambitious live action/CGI TV production “Mia and me” stormed to the top spot of the most requested  programmes at this year’s MipJunior and caused a sensation in international TV markets.

Höhenkirchen/Munich, 12th October 2010: At its first ever presentation, the TV series “Mia and me” was a truly stunning success at this year’s MipJunior event. The co-production of Lucky Punch GmbH (a joint venture between m4e AG and Gerhard Hahn), Rainbow S.p.A. and the Canadian production studio March Entertainment attained 1st place at the MipJunior screenings.

Over 1,000 assorted programmes were presented to more than 500 buyers from all over the world, and over 42,000 clips were accessed. “Mia and me” (26 x 24’) outranked all other programmes such  as “The  New  Adventures  of  Peter  Pan” (DQ  Entertainment), “Le  Petit  Prince” (PGS Entertainment), “Mad” (Warner Bros. International), and “Fish Hooks” (Disney Media Distribution). m4e AG, Hahn Film, ZDF German Television Network and Italy’s Rai Fiction serve as additional coproducers of the series.

“We are extremely pleased about the screening success of “Mia and me”. It demonstrates that internationally  arranged  productions  from  Germany  are  also  feasible  despite  locational disadvantages and lack of assistance from support and funding schemes for television. In this respect, “Mia and me” is perhaps the most ambitious project of its type so far. The programme, developed by Gerhard Hahn, includes a level of design and creativity never seen before now,” explains Hans Ulrich Stoef, CEO of m4e AG and producer of “Mia and me”.

During the subsequent Mipcom TV trade fair “Mia and me” created an enormous worldwide demand. In addition to its extremely high animation quality, the uniquely creative concept of the series and its extraordinary visual realization based on the artwork of the world-famous painter Gustav Klimt, made the series stand out among all others. The successful mixture of live action and animation was also met with strong interest. During the trade fair, the sales partners Telescreen B.V.,  a  subsidiary  of  m4e  AG,  and  Rainbow  S.p.A.  entered  into  concrete  negotiations  with international TV stations, as well as home entertainment companies, agencies and publishers, with deals soon to be announced. Additionally, a deal with a world renowned toy manufacturer is nearing completion. Distribution of the series is planned for autumn 2011, and “Mia and me” is expected to celebrate its premiere at the end of 2011 on Germany’s ZDF and Italy’s Rai.

“We are extremely pleased, but not surprised, with the results of this unique property. The quality of the animation, and the originality of the concept and visual look, was what attracted us as coproducers to the series. We feel certain it will have a very strong success on all platforms around the world.” adds Iginio Straffi, CEO of Rainbow S.p.A. and co-producer of “Mia and me”.
